A SUCCESSFUL run of rural support events has concluded, with the last three events taking place at Galatea, Katikati and Waihi.

Bay of Plenty Rural Support Trust regional coordinator Jodie Craig said a dozen of the “Brunch on Us” all-sector get-together events had been held in the Bay of Plenty, with the first one taking place at Nukuhou North on August 12.

“It’s been going really well – we’ve had 80 people at some of the events and the lowest number has been 20,” she said.

About 50 people attended the Galatea meeting last Wednesday.

“This is the first year these events have been open, previously they were only for the dairy industry,” Ms Craig said.

“We now have beekeepers, poultry famers, kiwifruit orchardists and forestry people attending.”

She said the brunches had helped people connect with each other and share information.

“The organisers have worked well together.”

The brunches have been sponsored by Fonterra, FMG, Kaimai Eggs, Beef and Lamb New Zealand, Farm Source and the Ministry of Primary Industries’ On Farm Support Team.
