Letter: Unappreciated satire

Contributed

Lindsay Perham

I HAVE been in touch with the Beacon editor who won’t publish my latest contribution to our paper.

Her reason is a few people are objecting to the content of my satirical material.

I want to make crystal clear I am a kiwi and have no political affiliations in America.

If Kamala Harris started coming out with weird and bizarre public statements, I would be all over her like a cheap suit.

I genuinely don’t care who wins the American election. In fact, it is great if Trump wins as he will remain a wonderful source of matierial for my satire.

You just can’t make this stuff up. My only reason for my letters, is to give people a laugh. I’m too old to pursue a writing career and I realise a few people will take my satire seriously.

If you people out there want me to  continue, let our editor know as retirement can become boring unless we have something to do.

Writing comedy is the most difficult genre as people have different types of humour. In other words, you can’t please all the people all the time.

PS: To any objectors, feel free to write your reasons for you objections in a letter to the editor and I will be happy to address them.
