Wonderful Anzac concert

Thank you to EBOP Brass for your wonderful Anzac Concert held at Liberty Centre on Saturday.

Conductor and emcee Andrew Leech,   plus our talented brass band, delivered a nostalgic and powerful collection of wartime music.

Mr Leech gave some interesting background information on how some of the music pieces arose and the purpose it fulfilled in World War I and World War II.

This music has endured the years and triggers experiences and feelings of loss, hope, love, resilience and unity, remembering service through music.

The amazing soloists were accompanied by the band who gave a variety of beautiful compassionate tunes, ranging from tender love songs, to hymns and humorous to valiant rousing marches.

A special tribute to the 28th Māori Battalion – E Hine E Hine was particularly moving.

The only disappointment was the very small audience (atrocious weather may have contributed).

We are fortunate that we have such a great brass band.

Thank you to everyone involved with this poignant tribute to the fallen Anzac soldiers, and to remember all New Zealanders killed in war and to honour returned service personnel.

Lest we forget.
