Casting call for Kids Unplugged – young outdoor champs sought

.

Are you a young adventurer with a passion for the outdoors?

Kids Unplugged, an exciting new web series by kids, for kids, is calling for tamariki and rangatahi across the Bay of Plenty who live and breathe outdoor adventure, learning, and connection.

Hosted by the dynamic Steel Brothers – Malachi, 14, Judah, 12, and Ezra, 7 – Kids Unplugged takes young viewers on a journey of discovery, curiosity, and inspiration, meeting everyday tamariki and rangatahi who choose the wild over Wi-Fi and thrive in nature’s playground.

From courageous kids conquering adventure sports to passionate conservation volunteers, from families living sustainably off-grid to guardians of indigenous wildlife – Kids Unplugged is all about celebrating the many amazing ways our young ones connect with and thrive in the world around them.

The series champions youth-led storytelling, empowering young people both in front of and behind the camera.

It aims to build resilience, mental health, and community while offering a fun, vibrant visual experience full of dynamic graphics and playful sound effects.

“With tamariki spending up to a third of their after-school time on screens and New Zealand’s youth suicide rate among the highest in the OECD, Kids Unplugged is part of a wider social movement to restore health and wellbeing for our young ones” said  producer Kylie DellaBarca Steel.

“It’s about reducing the harm of screens and social media while inspiring a generation to value immersive, play-based experiences.”
