Speed limit signs have now been replaced on State Highway 30, allowing motorists to return to 100kmh speeds between Whakatāne and Awakeri.
The area between the Landing Road Bridge and The Hub has also reverted from 60kmh to 80kmh.
The Government announced in January that it would be reversing blanket speed limit reductions brought in by the previous Government since 2020.
Public consultation was conducted throughout February and early March to find out which areas of state highway had public support for reversing speed limit changes.
It was announced in April that several sections of SH30 were among those to be returned to pre-2020 speed limits.
The new speed limits would not come into effect until new signs had been put in place which was to be before July 1.
The new signs that affect Whakatāne district were installed on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
