Five students have been awarded scholarships at Edgecumbe’s Rangitaiki College, where Herewaka Hona was named Dux and Mieka Miller Proxime Accessit at the prizegiving.

With a small roll of only 160 students, the school is pleased to have Mieka, who plans to study nursing at MIT Auckland, receive a BOP Education Trust Scholarship to the value of $6000.

Herewaka – who plans to study animation at Massey University Wellington – is the recipient of The Acorn Foundation/Tasman Charitable Trust Scholarship to the value of $3500.

Other Acorn Foundation/Tasman Charitable Trust Scholarship awardees at Rangitaiki include Teresa Bull – $3500; Ydrick Abon – $3500; and Hayley-Rae Nathan – $1500.
