4x4 Nationals come to town

Round one of the 2025 National 4x4 Trials is on in the Eastern Bay on Sunday.

The action will take place on Downard Road in White Pine Bush with 42 vehicles lining up to take on the challenging course. Included are five local drivers.

The course is expected to be wet, muddy, and slippery, providing plenty of excitement, obstacles, and potential for carnage.

Whakatāne’s champion pairing of Paul and Danielle Taylor enter the event as defending national champions, having won every round of the 2024 season.

If you want to catch the action, smell the fumes, and dodge the flying dirt, gates open at 8am with engines firing up at 8.30am.

Gumboots are recommended for reaching the best spectator spots. Tickets are available at the gate.
