Christmas elves Jacob Murphy, Adam Kirkbride, Amelia Langdon, Vayda Evans and Daniel Arbuckle from Thornton School are hoping the community will join them at Whakatāne’s annual Christmas float parade tomorrow.

The Thornton School students have their float almost ready to go in the parade, which will leave Rex Morpeth Park at 11am and travel via Kopeopeo to The Strand.

They expect to be joined by various other floats, bands, dancing groups, clowns, stilt walkers and colourful costumed characters – including, of course, Santa.

It’s not too late for clubs, businesses and groups to join in the celebration and enter a float. Entry is free.
