A new business is operating in town, offering customers health and wellbeing through flexibility and choice.

Matt Gebert and Anna Heath have opened Anytime Pilates in the base of the rebuilt Bridger building on Whakatāne’s Strand.

The studio uses reformer machines designed to support and guide movement through Pilates. The experience provides a blend between traditional mat Pilates and gym-based strength training.

“Being a chiropractor and understanding health and wellbeing, I know that reformer Pilates is a great way for people to look after their bodies,” said Ms Heath.

“Each reformer is attached to a kiosk, which allows the user to customise each session without the need for an instructor. Users can choose from over 800 workout programs, including rehab, strength, high-intensity, golf-specific sessions, pre- and post-natal workouts, and entry-level programs for those new to reformer,” she said.

Anytime Pilates has six reformer machines, with room to expand to 12 if demand requires. Customers create a profile when they sign in so workouts can be saved or customised, while one-time users can log in as guests for casual sessions.

Guest accounts won’t save preferences, but every user has full control over when they attend and what type of workout they complete.

Ms Heath said she stumbled across Anytime Pilates when she was in Australia for a conference and saw on-demand Pilates online.

“It’s popular and really accessible over there, so I decided to check it out. Then a friend opened a similar studio in Papamoa, which is going well, so we decided to bring it here.”

A major benefit of Anytime Pilates is the flexibility it offers, fitting into people’s busy and often unpredictable schedules. One new member booked a session at 2.30am.

The studio also features a fresh-air circulation system designed to recycle the air six times every hour. The studio already had 40 people signed up for memberships prior to it’s opening earlier this month.

Those interested in having a look or joining can visit anytimepilates.co.nz. Registration takes only a few minutes, after which users receive a QR code that grants them access to the studio.
