A few weeks ago, your awesome Beacon reporter came and talked to me about my idea to donate food to our pataka on Rambler Drive to help families in need this Christmas.

Thanks to the generosity of all the people in Whakatāne who visited our street and left a donation, lots of families got a treat this Christmas.

People contacted mum and gave names and addresses, and we delivered bags of kai to doorsteps around the area.

This could only happen because of the Christmas spirit of generous people in our community.
