It’s time for golfing enthusiasts to start getting their teams together for on-farm charity tournament, The Nukuhou North Open.

Tāneatua Lions Club’s biggest fundraising event of the year is being held on Sunday, March 15, on Paul Warneford’s farm in Nukuhou North.

Lion’s member Andrew Iles said one of the organisations that will be supported by this year’s event was James Street School, which is planning an accessible and inclusive playground for its special needs unit.

The Lions Club would like to provide the school with seed money for one of the pieces of equipment on the unit’s wish list, a wheelchair carousel.

Another community project being supported is the Waimana Sports and Cultural Club, which is fundraising for much needed upgrades to its building.

Mr Iles said every person who entered the competition would go home with a prize. There are also three champions trophies; for men’s, women’s and mixed doubles; novelty holes, a most creative team costume prize, quick-fire raffles, and charity auctions.

The event has a capacity for 36 teams of three or four people each. Entry is $25 per person and will be available on the day but organisers are urging early registration by emailing [email protected] to avoid disappointment.
