Letters: Further investigation needed

.

D Dawson

The former Covid Response minister Chris Hipkins, now leader of the opposition, was found to have misused half of the Covid response and recovery fund.

The Royal Commission found that Mr Hipkins was guilty of wasting $35 billion of Covid response and recovery fund money. It found that he, Grant Robertson and Jacinda Ardern said the money was needed as a result of the health emergency.

All of them refused to front up to the court hearing for the Covid enquiry.

The Royal Commission said, “Around half of the total spending was not directly related to the pandemic”.

This means $35 billion dollars of taxpayers’ money equivalent to $17,157 dollars for every household in New Zealand.

Basically, money was thrown around with no accountability by the Labour Coalition Government.

For example:

1. $900,000 for the Dargaville race course
2. $27 million for the Naenae Pool
3. $40 million for the Gisborne Olympic Pool
4. $1.3 million for a Masterton Skate Park
5. $45 million for an iwi-owned Hot Springs and Spa
6. $3.5 million for the Kauri Museum
7. $8 Million for the Green School … etc

I believe there has been a massive coverup, which is slowly being uncovered by the Covid Enquiry.

I feel heads should roll to make sure this does not ever happen again.

Could this be the real reason the cost of living has skyrocketed out of control?

This information has not been made readily available to all New Zealanders and has come from the Taxpayers’ Union.

This is information that the Labour Coalition Government did not want released to the New Zealand public before the coming election.

I believe a further investigation is needed with a much deeper and much wider terms of reference and preferably before the coming election.
