Christina Orr-West was in red hot form racing her way around Hampton Downs recently.

She managed to place first in her class NZ Six with three first places, two seconds and an outright race win over nearest challenger Brad Wenzlick.

“It went really well the entire weekend. I used qualifying to bed in my new brakes. I wasn’t too concerned about where I finished or my time as I start from the back anyway. I just needed to make sure I had them dialled in,” she said.

“The first race went off without a hitch, and I had some good battles trying to get to the front. I even managed the quickest time the Super Sixes have done around Hampton Downs, but I just couldn’t quite beat Brad.

“The last race was a reverse grid for Brad. We battled for nearly the whole race, and it was enough to give me the edge, and I managed to sneak ahead and he chased me right until the end.”

She is hoping to carry that good form into racing at Taupō this weekend.

In the final race, she realised something had gone wrong with her steering.

They have found the issue and the car is being fixed ready for Taupō.

“The front arm bolt had bent, the ball joint had expired and one of the wheel hubs wasn’t good either. It’s nice we found these issues and won’t carry them into Taupō,” she said.

She said Custom Exhaust in Kawerau had been a great help, along with CC Auto.
