While fuel prices remain high, police have not seen a rise in petrol theft.

Mr Mackinnon said service stations were being advised to use prepay to prevent drive-offs.

He said vehicle break-ins continued to be an issue, and people should not leave valuables in their cars at any time, day or night.

Police recently arrested a group of young people breaking into vehicles during the day.
