A former medal collector from Hamilton is hoping to reunite this medal with an ancestor of Robert Kelly.
Mr Kelly, a blacksmith from Ōpōtiki, was a rifleman in the army’s G company and earned the medal for his service during World War I.
His next of kin at the time he went to fight was his sister, Cushla Kelly.
Lance Lillas previously collected war medals and paraphernalia and has had this medal for more than 60 years.
He is hoping to be able to pass it on to one of Mr Kelly’s relatives.
