The 34th annual Rotary Club charity golf tournament is on this week, teeing off at 11am on Friday with a shotgun start.
The Rotary Club is encouraging the community to get involved by signing up for the tournament.
Entry is open to teams of four, playing in Ambrose format, with a registration cost of $200 a team.
Funds raised from the event will support a range of charities and schools backed by the club.
These include Trident High School and Whakatāne High School, as well as organisations such as Riding for the Disabled, Neighbourhood Support, and Surf Lifesaving.
In previous years, a portion of the proceeds has also contributed to international initiatives, including funding malaria vaccines for developing countries.
“Sponsorship helps Rotary continue supporting youth, education, and community initiatives across the Eastern Bay,” said a Rotary Club spokesperson.
The golf tournament remains the club’s major annual fundraiser and promises a day of fun and community spirit.
Participants can look forward to spot prizes, a lucky draw, and a barbecue.
There is also a chance to win $10,000 for any contestant who gets a hole-in-one on the 16th hole.
