Three youths have been charged with the aggravated robbery of a commercial premise in Ōhope.

Police were called about 5pm on Monday evening after a report of three people entering Liquorland on Pohutukawa Avenue and demanding cash. There were no injuries. The trio, who were captured on CCTV, then fled the scene in a vehicle.

Following the incident, police made area enquiries to locate the offenders and subsequently arrested and charged a 15-year-old, 16-year-old and 17-year-old with aggravated robbery.

They appeared in Whakatāne Youth Court yesterday.

The 16-year-old was also charged with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle.
