Three people were taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash outside The Comm on The Strand on Monday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the crash near Quay Street atabout 12.40pm.

Hato Hone St John sent two ambulances, a rapid response unit and an operations manager to the scene.

Ambulance staff treated three patients before transporting them to Whakatāne Hospital in moderate conditions.

Police said one person was initially reported to have serious injuries.

Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing. E5975-01
