A fallen tree that has been blocking the cycle track along State Highway 2 between Ōpōtiki and Waiotahe for several weeks has now been cleared.

The tree, photographed on Monday, was growing on state highway road reserve and fell during Cyclone Vaianu.

An Ōpōtiki District Council spokesperson said it had been working alongside New Zealand Transport Agency, Waka Kotahi, and its contractors, to arrange a date to remove it.

The spokesperson said the work began on Monday afternoon and the tree had now been cleared and cut.
