Neighbourhood Support and Hato Hone St John recently teamed up to deliver “3 Steps for Life” sessions, teaching community members essential lifesaving skills including CPR, how to locate and use an AED, and when to call 111 in a life-threatening emergency.

Two one-and-a-half hour sessions were held last week at the St John building, with a total of 25 people attending across the day.

The training was delivered by Ivan Judd from Hato Hone St John, alongside Jane Fox and Sharon Savage from Neighbourhood Support, who organised the lessons.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many appreciating the practical skills taught and the supportive teaching style.

“Ivan explained everything in a clear and easy way to remember,” said one participant.

“I’m glad I got to learn how to do CPR, you never know when you might need it,” said another attendee.

A third participant added, “Things have changed a lot over the years; it was good to have a refresher.”

Neighbourhood Support and Hato Hone St John highlighted the importance of being prepared to respond in life-threatening situations and encouraged more people to learn these vital skills.

Neighbourhood Support also thanked Judd for sharing his time, knowledge, and expertise with the community.
