Police have referred two youths to Youth Aid following the alleged theft of alcohol from a Whakatāne liquor store on Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to the store about 12.30pm after two youths allegedly entered the premises, took alcohol and pushed past a store assistant before fleeing.

The pair were later located by police and referred to Youth Aid.
