The team at Jewelz on The Strand in Whakatāne love what they do and now they’re wearing shirts that prove it.
Long-time Jewelz staff member Sue Dawson recently returned from a trip to England, where she visited family and explored her roots, including the Isle of Man, where her grandfather once lived.
While travelling through Reading, a town in Berkshire about 65km west of London, Dawson stopped into Primark, a popular British retail chain similar to Kmart in New Zealand.
“I found these T-shirts with a reference to the movie The Devil Wears Prada.
Across the front they read, ‘I Love My Job.’ Once I’d sorted everyone’s sizes, I thought it would be great to bring some back for the team,” said Dawson.
The shirts have quickly become a talking point, both inside and outside the store.
“We walk down the street, and they become a great conversation starter. People stop us for a chat. We genuinely do love our jobs at Jewelz, so we really enjoy wearing them,” said Dawson.
The matching shirts have not only given the team a fresh new look but have also reinforced the friendly atmosphere that has made Jewelz a familiar face on The Strand.
