East Cape MP Dana Kirkpatrick is inviting Eastern Bay people to a public meeting on Friday with National’s Police and Emergency Management spokesperson Mark Mitchell.

“Law and order is one of the Eastern Bay's top concerns and this meeting will be a chance to discuss National’s focus on reducing victims of crime, cracking down on gangs and ensuring sentences are appropriate,” she said.

Kirkpatrick said the Government had done significant work to put more police on the frontline, ban gang patches in public, restore three strikes and cap sentence discounts and was now keen to hear from the community on its law and order preferences in the next term.

“We welcome the opportunity to hear from the public, to raise the issues important in the community and to hear directly from Mark Mitchell.”

The meeting will be held at the Knox Presbyterian Church, 83A Domain Road, on Friday from 11am to 12.30pm.
