The rare coastal plant collection at Onekawa Te Mawhai Regional Park at Ōhiwa is now in its ninth year.

Project co-ordinator Meg Collins said most of the plants were now well established, and the kumerahau, pictured right, was in full golden bloom and looking spectacular.

Meanwhile, the kakabeak from Hicks Bay are nearing the end of their blooming season and the newly planted New Zealand succulents are thriving.

The care group is having a weeding day on Monday at 1pm if anyone wishes to help.
