With only one day left of voting, Bay of Plenty Regional Council has received voting forms from about only 28 percent of eligible voters.

Due to the unexpected death of Councillor Malcolm Campbell, the regional council is holding a by-election for the Eastern Bay of Plenty General Constituency seat.

Only voters enrolled on the general roll are eligible.

Votes need to be returned before 12pm on Friday, September 25.

Although it is too late to post your vote through New Zealand post, forms can be hand delivered to ballot boxes at New World Ōpōtiki or Ōpōtiki District Council offices.

As of yesterday, 6789 votes had been received.
