Whakatāne Camera Club is celebrating its 75th anniversary with an exhibition, which opens in the CBD today.

The exhibition brings together works from 20 of the club’s 36 members and covers many genres of photography with nature a strong topic.

The contributing photographers range from keen amateurs through to working professionals.

The exhibition will be held at 189 the Strand, next to the BNZ bank and runs until October 4.

On Sunday there will be educational talks by club members starting at 1pm.

The talks include wildlife photography by Mandy Hague and Wayne Smith; smart phone photography by Peter Green; maternity and underwater photography by Imke Kauta; astro photography by Waverly Klein Ovink; creative photography by Troy Baker; intentional camera movement by John Benn and drone photography by Mike Kelly.

Most of the displayed works will be offered for sale. For those with an interest in the art of photography and who wish to explore what is produced by a collection of talented locals, this exhibition will be a place of discovery and a chance to share.
