This morning is the last chance to vote in the Bay of Plenty Regional Council by-election.

Voting closes at 12 noon today.

As of yesterday, the council had processed only 6789 votes, equivalent to 28 percent of eligible voters.

The by-election is being held to replace Councillor Malcolm Campbell, who died unexpectedly on May 21.

Campbell was one of two Eastern Bay of Plenty General Constituency councillors.

Only voters enrolled on the general roll are eligible to vote.

Although it is too late to post your vote through New Zealand post, forms can be hand delivered to ballot boxes at Bay of Plenty Regional Council offices in Whakatāne or Tauranga, Ōpōtiki, Kawerau and Whakatāne district council offices, Ōpōtiki, Kawerau and Whakatāne New World supermarkets, Whakatāne Woolworths supermarket or Murupara Four Square.

If you are enrolled but have not received voting papers, special votes can be made at the Whakatāne or Tauranga regional council offices up until 12 noon.
