Whakatane Neighbourhood Support, in conjunction with Blue Light and Bunnings, is holding an event next Tuesday where people can have their number plates fitted with anti-theft bolts.

The bolts make it harder for people to steal number plates said Neighbourhood Support area co-ordinator Jane Fox.

“The screws make it harder for people to take plates off and use them for crime.”

There will also be a free sausage sizzle put on by Blue Light.

The event will be held at Bunnings from 9am to midday, and everything will be free.
