It was a season worth remembering for Whakatāne Town Football Club.

They managed to win two league titles from their four teams, while the other two teams more than held their own in difficult leagues.

The Whakatāne Town men’s team took out their Baywide league, while also making it through to the final of the Miller Cup.

It was also a memorable season for the under-15 girls, who also took out their Baywide league.

The club recently held their prizegiving and rewarded plenty of players for their outstanding contribution.

The men’s most valuable player went to the league’s best goalkeeper Reuben Whittaker, while Liam Gordon was named the best player by his peers and claimed the captain’s award.

Brendan Mitchell had an awesome season in front of goal, picking up the golden boot award, while Tyler Warren was also recognised.

In the women’s W-league team, Katie Peterson had a night to remember as she was named the team’s best player by her teammates, and took home the player of the year accolade.

Olivia Allison, Kiana Angel and Adelaide Roper also picked up awards, while Abby Brogden and Emma Owen were the teams two top goal scorers.

The Patrons Cup went to Brogden, Mark Brogden and Sean Henderson, while Connor Davies was named club man of the year.

In the men’s social grade, Connor McGinty won the award given out by his teammates, Niheta Renata was the coaches top player and Matt Anderson managed to find the net on a regular basis with his 10 goals earning him their golden boot award.
