Families enjoyed free activities, games and giveaways at the Blue Light Activation Days held in Whakatāne and Edgecumbe last week.

The events give children and whānau an opportunity to connect with their local community, with this year marking the first time an Activation Day has been held in Edgecumbe.

Activities included rides on a Fonterra’s barrel train, an inflatable obstacle course, bubble suits, the bucket drop game, face painting, basketballs games and a fire truck pull, alongside a free sausage sizzle and drinks.

The events were supported by local emergency services, volunteers, community organisations and businesses, including Whakatāne and Edgecumbe fire brigades, St John, police and Fonterra, which sponsored six $50 Pak’nSave vouchers for the Edgecumbe event.

Blue Light organisers appreciate all those who attended, volunteered and contributed to making the events a success, acknowledging the community support that helped provide a fun day out for families.
