I enjoyed reading the article about the Kawarehe housing development in Wednesday’s Beacon.

I would be proud to live in one of these new homes. I was very impressed with the Kawarehe Pou shown being unveiled by the mayor.

Unfortunately, there was no credit in the article given to the designer/maker.

I think it’s a striking piece and something similar would be way more meaningful to have at the entrance to Whakatāne (instead of the big kiwi currently on offer).

Other pou could be placed around the area. A cool backdrop for a photo opportunity for locals and travellers, too.
