Garden competition judges want to know how your garden is growing this spring.
Entries are open for the annual Keep Whakatāne District Beautiful Garden Competition.
This free-to-enter competition is organised by the Keep Whakatāne District Beautiful Committee, a Whakatāne District Council-supported community group that co-ordinates environmental care, litter prevention and civic pride activities.
There are 23 categories and each entrant can enter up to three of these. Categories include best first-time entry for town and country gardens, providing an opportunity for those who are new to the district or have never entered before.
There are also prizes for best street, best shop window, best school or pre-school, along with a host of prizes for home gardens, both rural and town.
The ultimate prizes of Supreme Award for Best Town Garden and Best Country Garden and a host of other trophies will be announced at an awards ceremony on Friday, November 13, at the Whakatāne War Memorial Hall Reception Lounge.
Entries need to be in by next Friday and can be picked up at the Whakatāne District Council office in Commerce Street, Whakatāne, or the Murupara Service Centre in Pine Drive or email [email protected].
Judging will take place during the week starting October 26.
