Quota Whakatāne raised more than $700 for the Breast Cancer Foundation NZ at its Pink Ribbon Breakfast earlier this month.

The breakfast was held at Robert Harris, with the café also donating $180 towards the fundraiser.

There were 31 people at the event, including Quota members, members of the Kopeopeo Lions Club and friends.

Quota member Lyn Irving said the fundraiser was a way for the group to support women with breast cancer and to raise money for breast cancer research and treatment.

“We appreciate the support from our community,” she said.

The money raised came from raffles, merchandise and donations.

Irving said one particularly generous donation came from a man who did not want any tickets or merchandise.

“He gave me $50,” she said.

“It was a great start to the morning.”
