Members of the WDC Global Cities Committee met this week to plan a multicultural festival for Whakatāne.

Anyone who has attended a recent Citizenship Ceremony has noticed how culturally diverse the Whakatāne District has become.

The committee has decided that it is time to celebrate the food, dress, music, dance and other aspects of our diverse cultures.

Planning for an event in the Rose Garden in February or March next year is now under way.

The committee has representatives from Japan, Sri Lanka, Kerala (India) and Germany but would like more members from other cultures to join them. Please contact Sue Whale by e-mail on [email protected] if you would like to help.
