A farmers market and monster car boot and garage sale will bring a mix of crafts, food and second-hand treasures to the Racecourse Park Event Centre next month.

The Eastern Bay of Plenty District Trust is hosting the event on Saturday, November 14, from 8.30am to 1pm, at the Grieve Road venue in Te Teko, with access via the Hogbin Road entrance.

Trustee Bev Hay said the market was an opportunity to raise funds for minor improvements around the grounds, including parking areas and toilet blocks, while encouraging more people to discover the venue.

Stalls are expected to offer crafts, plants, antiques and collectibles, fishing gear, equine equipment and food, with farmers encouraged to sell unused equipment and other items gathering dust.

Community groups, schools and clubs are also welcome to book a stall to sell baking or other goods and raise funds for their own activities.

There will also be a free table for children to trade or sell items such as Pokémon cards, Ooshies, squishies, books and toys, with supervision.

The market is part of a wider effort to showcase Racecourse Park as a community event centre capable of hosting more than equestrian events. The grounds have previously hosted show jumping, dressage, pony club and school events, as well as Farming Like Grandad, the Bay of Plenty eventing days, weddings, 21st celebrations and a recently held fight night.

Hay said she hoped the market would encourage people to get out into the country, enjoy the fresh air and see what the venue had to offer.

Sites cost $15, with sellers required to bring their own tables. Indoor and outdoor spaces are available. Trade sites for coffee carts and food vendors cost $25.

Bookings can be made by contacting Martin Gow on 027 405 3307 or Bev Hay on 027 242 9577.

Sites can be booked up until a couple of days before the event.
