Letter: Real vote-catching stuff

.

After watching an interview with Green party co-leader Marama Davidson and Ryan Bridges, I was left wondering what the Green Party stood for.

First, I thought it was about saving the world from climate change when we know that will never happen because it’s been changing for thousands of years with weather patterns that man has no control over.

Now, the greens are going to perform a miracle by spending $43 billion of taxpayers’ money if elected offering homes for everyone, jobs for everyone and cheap kai.

When repeatedly asked where the money would come from, Davidson said it’s all in the Greens’ manifesto.

When pressed, she said it would all be paid for by the super-rich being made to pay higher taxes that will bring in $5 billion over the next four years.

This all sounds like a pipe dream to me, real vote-catching stuff. If it was true, the middle class and the poor will suffer even more from the backlash from the rich, who will lay off staff and workers, raise rents and many will move offshore because of the higher taxes imposed by the Greens.

The Greens want to shut down oil, gas and coal, lower methane gas emissions and stock numbers for farmers and spend millions more on expensive school lunches and give full support to Te Pati Māori, forcing New Zealanders to adopt Māori culture and customs.

The Green Party supports cannabis legalisation, returns patches to gangs, are very soft on crime and support borrowing billions of dollars with no accountability, which will bankrupt the country and leave us all living in a kibbutz.
