Letters: National made mockery of MMP

What a spectacle the current government parties have put on for the voters of Aotearoa as they try to work out who and what to vote for this Saturday.

Along with the Taxpayer Union-funded campaigns designed to install an even further right-wing government, we’ve seen the coalition parties turn on each other and start scrapping amongst themselves as they each offer different ways to rig the system to reward, not the country, but the politicians themselves.

They’ve even had to dust off Sir John Key and get him to tell the obedient and pliable National faithful of Epsom NOT to vote for the other guy this time.

Why?

Because the Government’s poor handling of the cost of living has resulted in them being so disliked that senior National ministers like Paul Goldsmith, Gerry Brownlee, Chris Bishop and Nicola Willis will be jobseekers on Monday morning.

National have made a mockery of MMP with their shenanigans in Epsom and when you drive through there you kind of expect to see all the locals being driven around in a little bus because they appear, politically at least, to be in the Remedial Politics class at Citizen School.

What an utter shambles to see Paul Henry calling Christopher Luxon a hypocrite, Nicola Willis calling out Don Brash as a yesterday man, Luxon dobbing in Don Brash for his Act and New Zealand First-approved advertisements warning National supporters to split their vote, while multi-millionaire businessman Harry Mowbray’s “Split Your Vote” website went down after being investigated by the Electoral Commission.

Good grief, no wonder the economy is going down the toilet.

How utterly humiliating for all those who have spent the last three years telling us what a great bunch this three-ring circus is.

No one likes hearing some smart alec, loudmouth, always right, big-headed show off jump up and say ‘I told you so’, so I won’t.
